October 28, 2024 - Planning Commission Recommends Approval

The guided tutorial by Staff was presented at the October 14, 2024 County Planning Commission hearing. The item was continued to the October 28, 2024 Planning Commission hearing, where the Commissioners recommended approval of the Tiered NRO with amendments.

September 5, 2024 - DRAFTS ARE LIVE & HEARINGS ARE SCHEDULED

• The Draft Natural Resource Land Development Regulations in Div. 5.1, 5.2 and Div. 8.2 including process Checklist can be reviewed and commented on HERE.
• The DRAFT Tiered NRO map can be found HERE.

The Draft LDRs & Map are going before the Planning Commission on October 14, 2024 & the Board of County Commissioners on November 19, 2024. Agendas for these hearings will be made available HERE closer to the hearing dates.

Staff continues to work with EcoConnect to provide a revised draft of the Natural Resource Land Development Regulations. Stay tuned as a draft is anticipated for public release late Summer of 2024!

The Natural Resource Protections Update is on hold until further notice.

Oct. 29 Planning Commission Meeting on Natural Resources  CANCELED. Oct. 30th and Nov. 1st Planning Commission Meetings also canceled. All other public review meetings and release dates have been canceled as well. The  Board of County Commissioners may discuss future public review meetings at their regular November 13 meeting.

Draft Natural Resource Protections released. Review the draft and associated documents:

• Natural Resource Protection LDRs: Public Review Draft, September 28, 2018

  • The proposed language that would replace Divisions 5.1 and 5.2, and Section 8.2.2 in the current LDRs.

• Summary of Natural Resource Protection LDRs: A one-page, graphic explanation of the natural resource protection LDRs.

• Countywide Habitat Value Map

  • The map that is incorporated into the LDRs. 

  • The Focal Species Habitat Map and Addendum informed the creation of the Countywide Habitat Value Map

• Explanation of Draft LDRs: Natural Resource Protection LDRs Update

  • A summary of the proposed protections, the policy direction they implement, and their implications.

• Release Memo

  • A brief explanation of release documents and update schedule.

December 11, 2017

The Board of County Commissioners provided final direction on the Natural Resource Protections Update at their December 11th meeting. This officially concludes Phase 3 of the Natural Resource Protections Update: Identify the Solutions.

Coming Next

Based on the direction provided by the Board of County Commissioners, staff will begin drafting new Natural Resource Protections regulations. Meetings to review the draft regulations will be scheduled in the spring of 2024.
