The Town of Jackson and Teton County are jointly updating their 1994 Comprehensive Plan—the long-range plan that guides policy, investment, program, and land use decisions for both entities. Because our community and region is changing over time, it is necessary to review and update our plan to make sure it reflects current conditions and community values.
This planning effort will lead to a new 2008 Plan Update, to make sure it reflects the current needs and vision of Town and County residents, businesses, and other stakeholders. The plan update should provide meaningful policies and strategies to achieve the community’s vision.
The planning process began in July 2007 and is anticipated to be complete in fall of 2008.
The plan update will accomplish four main objectives:
- Reconfirm/refine the 20-year vision for the valley that is realistic and achievable.
- Bring directions and policies of the County and Town into alignment with each other and with those of other coordinating agencies.
- Coordinate decision-making.
- Provide a greater level of predictability to landowners, businesses, and residents.
